A note from Robin Duncan...

I discovered A Course in Miracles in 1996 and began studying it with my Husband, Terry, on a daily basis in 1997.  For those of you who are not familiar with the Course, there is a brief history below to help you understand how it came to be. 

I was going through a very difficult time in my life and the Course helped me to find my way back to health, happiness and a peaceful state of mind. 

The concepts I learned from studying the Course have changed my life and state of mind so dramatically (for the better), that I have made it my life-purpose to teach and study the Course for the rest of my life. 

It is my desire that the Miracle Center of California can be of assistance in helping you to understand and apply A Course in Miracles in your daily life, so that you too, can learn how to experience miracles.

A Course in Miracles has helped millions of people to experience a more loving, healthy and peaceful life.  It is not a religious book, however, it is very Spiritual.  It is not intended to be a replacement for the Bible.  It is a Spiritually-based curriculum that reminds us that we have never been separated from our Creator.   It teaches us (step by step) how to undo our fear-based consciousness, and how to join with our Creator in creating a more loving, peaceful life experience.

Brief History of
A Course in Miracles

A Course in Miracles began with the sudden decision of two people to join in a common goal.  Their names were Helen Schucman and William "Bill" Thetford,  Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University.   Their relationship with each other was difficult and often strained, and they were concerned with personal and professional acceptance and status.  Their lives were hardly in accord with anything the Course advocates.

The two of them agreed to "find a better way" to manage the conflicts they were experiencing between themselves and others in the department.  Soon after this agreement was made, Helen began having a series of highly symbolic dreams.  Some of them were in Hebrew, which she did not understand at the time.  Several messages were given to her over a period of about 3 months, and those in Hebrew had to be translated by friends of hers at the University.

After the series of dreams concluded, Helen began hearing an actual voice during her non-sleeping hours and wrote down everything she heard.  This, of course, was very alarming to her and she was clear that the voice was communicating information that she initially did not understand.  She took the messages down in short-hand and each morning that followed, she would read the messages to her friend, Bill, who would type them up for her.

This daily communication took place over a period of 7 years.  The Course is not a religious book, however it is very Spiritual.  It has no religious bias, nor does it attempt to convert anyone to any specific ideas or thought-forms.  It is simply a curriculum that details how to transform a fear-based consciousness into a more loving one.

To me, the Course is a gift to humanity.  I hope you enjoy the concepts and principles as much as I have.
